Best Free Fun in Austin – August 2025
Bring It On at Zilker Hillside Theater
Happening Thursday through Sunday until August 16, the classic movie Bring It On is brought to life on the Zilker stage. Bring some friends or make new ones! Admission is free, donations accepted.
Blues on the Green
Zilker Park transforms into the city’s longest-running free concert series on August 5 and 6. Each year, the event brings big name musical performances to the pubic for free and this year is no exception. Get details on everything you can expect at BOTG here.
The Drop‑In at the Long Center
This free outdoor concert series continues through August 14 at the Long Center. Expect local acts, good vibes and gorgeous views of the downtown skyline.
Free Tuesdays at the Blanton + Storytime
The Blanton Museum offers free admission every Tuesday, courtesy of the Moody Family Free Day Endowment. This includes special Summer Storytime at 10:30 a.m. on August 5 and 12. Gallery teachers read picture books and guide families through the art. First‑come, first‑served. Best suited for children ages 4-8, but open to all ages.
Summer Movie Mondays at Vacancy Brewing
Vacancy Brewing is turning cult classics and blockbuster hits into full-on taproom experiences. Come for the movie, stay for the beer, and don’t miss out on themed fun every week. The schedule is as follows: August 4 is Barbie, August 11 is I Know What You Did Last Summer, August 18 is Jurassic Park and August 25 is Grease.
Musical Storytimes at Bookpeople
Join on the third floor at 10:30 a.m. to sing, dance, wiggle, giggle and have fun. Be ready to make some noise at 10:30 a.m.! This month’s dates are August 5, 12, 20 and 23.
Come Sip and Shop with Women of Austin, Spill the ATX and Austin.com!
Join Women of Austin and Spill the ATX for a fun and inspiring evening on August 12 at the brand new SAF Wine Bar in Lakeway, right next to Sweet Pea’s Consignment. Sponsored by Austin.com! Sip and mingle at SAF Wine Bar, then shop a curated selection of women’s and kids’ luxury consignment on the patio and inside Sweet Pea’s. There will also a laid-back Q&A session about all things social media and an amazing raffle prize you won’t want to miss!

Outside the City Limits (OCL) Summer Concert Series – Concert Series for Flood Relief
Every third Saturday of the summer, Vista Brewing hosts the Outside the City Limits (OCL) Summer Concert Series. On August 16, they are donating a portion of sales during the concert to July 4th Flood Relief. While this is typically a free concert series, they are asking for a $5 donation which goes directly to flood relief.
Austin Pride Parade
Celebrated during Austin Pride Month on August 23 with a giant parade down Congress Avenue during the largest annual LGBTQI advocacy and fundraising event in Central Texas. For decades, voices have risen in protest, in celebration, and in unity—because Silence = Death. This year, Austin PRIDE gets even LOUDER! With over 400,000 attendees in previous years, they’re turning up the volume on love, activism, and the power of community. Expect show-stopping entertainment AND unforgettable performances!
