Jackie Venson Bringing Music To The National Stage By Appearing On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert

Local guitarist Jackie Venson has become a staple in the Austin music scene for her expressive voice and incredible guitar playing for a few years now. We’re excited to report that now Venson has taken her music to a national audience by performing on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” for a two night run which began last night and ends today. For tonight’s performance, she will be accompanying hip hop artist Mac Miller and rising emcee Anderson.Paak who received plenty of recognition at SXSW earlier this year. She will also be filling in on guitar for Colbert bandleader Jon Batiste’s band during the show.

For those who may miss tonight’s performance, Venson will be returning to “The Late Show” for a second appearance beginning on September 26th. For those who want to see Venson perform in person, she will be playing at Antone’s on Sunday to celebrate the release of her new live record Jackie Venson Live recorded at Strange Brew.

Venson released her last self-released LP The Light in Me in 2014.

Check out Venson performing her song “What I Need From” live below.
