Blues on the Green is back and better than ever! There’s also the Drop-In Summer Concert Series at the Long Center that’s worth checking out. And let’s not forget about catching a show at the Continental Club or the Moody Theater at ACL Live where the AC is sure to be pumping along with the beats!

Eat Good Food

You can’t have summer without hotdogs and barbecue ribs, right? Head to Stubb’s Bar-B-Q downtown for incredible barbecue and live music at the state’s largest outdoor venue. If you’re a vintage kind of gal or girl, head to Top Notch and dine like the Dazed and Confused gang on the first day of summer break. Many people say that’s the spot for the best burgers in Austin! Burgers and barbecue not your thing? Celebrate summer in style at the Odd Duck, an upscale New American restaurant with a sleek, contemporary setting.

Find a Festival

While 2020 and 2021 saw a lot of festival cancellations, the summer is usually packed with fests and events. There’s the Central Texas Juneteenth 2K, Parade & Celebration,  Keep Austin Weird Fest, Bat Fest (this one is currently scheduled to happen in August of 2021), and many more! They are all fun, funky, and can’t-miss summer activity for all Austinites – families welcome!

Stay Cool

With average summer temperatures in the 90s and even reaching 100 degrees or more, you’ll need to stay cool this summer in Austin. Luckily, there are plenty of public places to swim, boat, and paddleboard. Enjoy the three-acre Barton Springs Pool in Zilker Park or head to St. Edward’s Park for a scenic trail and swimming. Other places to cool down include Upper Barton Springs, Lady Bird Lake, Lake Travis, McKinney Falls, Twin Falls, and Mansfield Dam Park.

Enjoy Indoor Activities

Some days it may be too hot or rainy to enjoy the great outdoors. Instead, head over to one of the intriguing indoor activity centers in Austin. For example, enjoy educational fun at the Austin Nature and Science Center. Play games at Pinballz Arcade or practice your golf swing at the completely covered range at Topgolf. If you’re feeling adventurous, hit up a panic room or try indoor skydiving at iFly Austin.

Don’t Forget the Ice Cream

Can you go the whole summer without ice cream? Not when so many delicious creameries are right nearby in Austin. Hit up Lick Honest Ice Creams for more unusual flavors. Sweet Ritual offers vegan ice cream, while the Dolce Neve Gelato offers exquisite Italian-style creams. Just don’t let the Austin heat get to your ice cream cone before you do!
