Austin Holiday Events for Children with Special Needs

The holiday season is a wonderful time for people to come together to celebrate community and fun, and it should be enjoyed by all. Sometimes, however, those bright lights, hordes of people, and new sights and sounds can become a bit overwhelming, making events for families with different needs and abilities even more important.

Here are a few events that help to make the season bright, including events that are created exclusively for children with special needs, as well as general public events that might make a good fit. Note: some events have a cost associated with them.

Teddy Bear Teas
November 25 & 26, December 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 | seatings at noon and 3 p.m. | Four Seasons Hotel, 98 San Jacinto Blvd
With traditional tea service, caroling and a fireside reading of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” by Santa himself, our Teddy Bear Teas in the Lobby Lounge are some of our most popular annual events, selling out year after year. Children attending a tea are asked to bring a new, unwrapped teddy bear as a donation to Dell Children’s Hospital. Reservations are required and may be made by calling (512) 685-8300 ($45 for adults, $30 for children 12 and under).
