Austin City Limits Kicks Off 50 Years With Black Pumas

The 50th season of Austin City Limits has arrived, at least the tapings have! On Tuesday, February 21, Austin PBS kicked off the milestone season with a performance from Austin’s own Black Pumas. From the special decor, merch, and photo booth to the sold out crowd, the night served as a set up for a fantastic season ahead.

The eight-time Grammy nominees played a mix of songs from their first album, as well as their acclaimed sophomore release Chronicles of a Diamond. In celebration of the big night, acltv.com streamed the performance live and though the full show won’t make it on air, hopefully, you’ll be able to stream it again once the season opener airs.

Here’s the full Black Pumas set list from the show:

  1. Fire
  2. Gemini Sun
  3. Know You Better
  4. Black Moon Rising
  5. Tomorrow
  6. Ice Cream (Pay Phone)
  7. Angel
  8. More Than A Love Song
  9. Chronicles of a Diamond
  10. Mrs. Postman
  11. OCT 33
  12. Colors

For the encore, lead singer Eric Burton performed a cover of “Fast Car” in the middle of the crowd on the floor. This was followed by the final song of the evening, “Rock and Roll.” What a rocking show it was!

More to come on the 50th season of Austin City Limits!

Other artists performing this season include: Colombian superstar Juanes (March 4), Austin native/ hometown hero Gary Clark Jr. (March 26), and Brittany Howard (April 29).

Season 50 will begin airing on PBS this fall. Until then, tune in to your local PBS station on Saturday nights for fan-favorite encore episodes of Austin City Limits. You can also stream anytime at PBS.org or in the PBS App.
