Amplify Austin Raised $8.5Mil for Austin Charities After 24 Hour Fundraising Marathon

Amplify Austin made the 24 hours between 6pm March 8 and 6pm March 9 really count for more than 600 Central Texas charities by raising $8.mil, reports Austin Business Journal. Top fundraising organizations included Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area ($488,270), YMCA of Austin ($315,051.29), Hospice Austin ($222,894.14), Foundation Communities ($193,348), and Capital Area Food Bank ($169,858). A wide variety of organizations also won hourly and other mini-contests to help boost their fundraising.

Though the total didn’t quite hit organizer I Live Here, I Give Here’s goal of $9mil, it beat out last year’s total of $7.7mil.

If you donated, you have probably already received plenty of grateful emails, Facebook shoutouts, and the like, and we’d like to add one big pat on the back for you, as well. One of the things that makes Austin such a wonderful place is its generosity, and it makes us proud to see our citizens being so giving. Good job, Austin.
