South Congress Avenue continues to see big changes. One of Austin’s most unique shops Tesoros Trading Company announced that they will be closing after 33 years.
Though many local businesses have closed due to development or shy rocketing rent, the owners of Tesoros are citing retirement as the reason. In an email and Instagram post published on Tuesday morning, the company said:
“After 33 years on Congress Avenue, the Tesoros store is retiring! Visit us through mid-June to take advantage of the many sales!”
When we stopped by the shop that afternoon employees told us the owners are simply ready to retire. Though they may host pop-ups and booths at events from time to time, their days of running a full-time store are over. Be sure to swing by the store and sign up for their newsletter so you’ll be in the know.
