Austin’s reputation as the Live Music Capital of the World is getting another boost. A brand-new indoor music venue is now under construction at the River Park development in southeast Austin. When finished, the 4,000-seat space will give the city another stage to host artists and events that fit between intimate clubs and large-scale arenas.
A Big Step for River Park
The venue is part of the 109-acre River Park project, a large mixed-use development planned along East Riverside Drive. The full buildout will bring housing, offices, retail, hotels, parks and entertainment into one connected community. For music lovers, the addition of a mid-size venue fills a long-discussed gap in Austin’s live music scene.

Inside the New Space
The building will cover about 65,000 square feet. Plans include:
- – A flexible concert hall that seats 4,000
- – Luxury suites and upgraded guest amenities
- – Backstage areas designed with touring artists in mind
- – Production-ready spaces for seamless shows
- – Multi-use layouts for conferences and private events
AEG Presents, one of the largest live entertainment companies in the world, is set to operate the venue once it opens. Completion is expected in early 2027.
Looking Ahead
Austin already has iconic stages like ACL Live at the Moody Theater and the Moody Center. But artists and promoters have often noted the lack of a high-quality venue in the mid-size range. The River Park space aims to bridge that gap, giving more touring acts a reason to stop in Austin and offering fans more live music options without leaving town.
Construction on the venue is underway, with broader infrastructure work across River Park expected to stretch out over the next decade or two. For now, the groundbreaking marks an important milestone. Southeast Austin, once overlooked for major projects, is on its way to becoming a new hub for both music and community life.
