Africa Rocks Austin With The African Children’s Choir

Posted in Events

Africa rocked Austin at the annual gala supporting the African Children’s Choir. The energy, the talent and the sheer joy the children bring to the stage is truly inspiring. The event is a beautiful testament to the power of community coming together for a phenomenal cause.

About the African Children’s Choir

The African Children’s Choir is part of the larger Music for Life charity, which has been changing lives for 41 years. Their mission is powerful: helping Africa’s child today so they can help Africa tomorrow.

This tour isn’t just a performance – it’s the first step on a lifelong educational journey for these children who come from poverty, yet radiate true hope. Every dollar raised supports their programs and schools back in East Africa, ensuring they receive education all the way through university. And the impact is real! Many graduates are now leading doctors, teachers, engineers and ChangeMakers!

This year’s event was hosted by Adrianne Palicki who has been involved with the organization for many years. He co-host Julia Barnett has served as Creative Director for the event for the last 15 years.

We asked both women how they hoped people would feel after experiencing the choir. “I hope people walk away from Africa Rocks Austin with true joy in their hearts, knowing happiness doesn’t come from the things of this world – but from the people and lives we touch,” Barnett said.

On the red carpet before the event, the children couldn’t resist hugging Palicki and jumping for joy. “They are so happy,” Palicki exclaimed. “It really takes you out of your own life and shows you what matters – and these kids matter.”

As it was my first time seeing the choir, she predicted that I would feel joy, humility, beauty and pure innocence. I can now tell you that she was one hundred percent correct.
