To celebrate their brand-new F1 car design created just for the US Grand Prix, Red Bull flew the vehicle over the Austin skyline! So, if you happened to look up Wednesday afternoon and thought you saw a race car flying over the ATX, you are correct!
The current world champion racing team, Oracle Red Bull Racing, revealed their new livery (that’s what they call the paint scheme and sticker design used in motorsport) by dropping it in the middle of the East Austin Oracle campus.
Drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez were on hand for the reveal, as was the team’s Principal and CEO Christian Horner.
The design is appropriately named “The Lonestar” and was submitted by a fan! Franco Cavallone design was chosen the winner of over thousands of livery designs submitted by fans in the Make Your Mark Austin contest! The Argentina native was flown into Austin for the event. The artist says he took inspiration from the stripes and stars, and sweeping red, white, and blue lines around the corners of the Circuit of the Americas track.
