Texas Medal of Arts Awards – Celebrity Photos, Performances and More

Miranda Lambert, Luke Wilson, and Taylor Sheridan were just a few of the artists on hand for the Texas Medal of Arts Awards in Austin. Here are our favorite photos, performances and more details about the star studded event!

Country music star Miranda Lambert hails from Lindale and received the award for Music/Songwriter. She performed two tracks from her album The Marfa Tapes including “Two-Step Down to Texas” which references the Broken Spoke.

Luke Wilson is no stranger the Austin. The Dallas native has even called Austin home in the past. He revceived the medal for Film/Actor. On the carpet, we overheard him professing his love for Lady Bird Trail.

You may not know this guy’s name but surely you know his most popular project. Taylor Sheridan is the creator of the “Yellowstone” series. The Weatherford native received the medal for Film/Producer.

Other awards were presented to current Austinites Christopher Cross for Music, Deborah Roberts for Visual Arts, and the Miró Rivera Architects for Architecture.

In addition to Lambert, the awards ceremony featured special performances by the Barton Strings Orchestra with Christopher Cross, previous TMAA honoree Ray Benson, as well as Texas Young Masters Suhaas Patil (violinist) and Christen Burse (dancer).
