The Liberal Arts and Sciences Academy (LASA) in northeast Austin was just named Niche.com’s #1 public high school in Texas. That’s #1 out of 1,557 ranked schools in the state. Now that is impressive. Less surprising, but still pretty amazing is Westlake High School’s #4 rank on the list.
In addition to the top spot in Texas, LASA came in at #2 on the national list of top high schools, which analyzed 18,000 public high schools..
Rankings were calculated based on different weights from the following categories: academics, culture and diversity, health and safety, parent/student surveys ranking overall experience, teachers, resources and facilities, clubs and activities, and sports. Of course, the academics grade made up 50% of the overall score, so it’s no surprise that a high school with the slogan “Nurturing innovation and curiosity” ranked the top in Texas.
Niche is “a website that helps you discover the schools and neighborhoods that are right for you.” In addition to our public high schools, Niche seems to really like our public universities, as the University of Texas was ranked the #1 public university in the country earlier this spring.
