Social media continues to impact mental health, as well as the upcoming election, current news cycle and simply the demands of daily life, making mental heath awareness more important than ever. Austinites were lucky enough to see Chappell Roan perform at ACL Music Festival over the weekend, but fans feared the mega superstar may skip the appearance. That’s because the week prior she had cancelled a festival performance. On Instagram, she stated, “Things have gotten overwhelming over the past few weeks and I am really feeling it.” In June, she fought back tears on stage while getting candid with the crowd about how she’s dealing with her rapid success.
Mental illness affects one in five adults, which would include approximately 260,000 residents in Travis County. With World Mental Health Day happening on Thursday, October 10, local nonprofit Austin Clubhouse is leading efforts to raise awareness in Austin.
Austin Clubhouse is not your typical treatment program or social service; it is a community where individuals come together to pursue health and wellness. While traditional clinical approaches play a vital role in mental health recovery, Austin Clubhouse offers a unique, strengths-based model that emphasizes the power of acceptance, relationships, and meaningful work. By offering supportive opportunities for personal growth, members are empowered to actively engage in their community, helping to reduce social isolation and marginalization.
Working For Wellness 2024 Luncheon & World Mental Health Day

The flagship event celebrates the resilience and achievements of Clubhouse members in their recovery journeys and serves as a crucial platform to raise funds for our ongoing efforts.
Members of the community can join for lunch and hear inspiring stories from members about their journeys to mental health recovery. This year’s theme, Community Works, emphasizes the power of collective support in fostering overall wellness. Anne Grady, a nationally recognized resilience expert, serves as the keynote speaker.
