Looking for ways to give back and help your neighbors? We found just a few ways you can help those in need.
Here Are Some Ways You Can Give Back to The Community and Help Your Austin Neighbors in Need
Austin Area Urban League
The Austin Area Urban League continues its emergency donation drive for the housing insecure communities of Austin. They have launched the #LoveThyNeighborTX campaign with the support of fellow community-focused organizations committed to aiding in this emergency support. Together, with your help, they provide shelter, food, water, clothing, and more. They ask that you spread the love by donating your desired amount, sharing this page link to your network, and tagging the AAUL with the hashtag #LoveThyNeighbor.
A Taste of Koko, 365 Things Austin + MYLK Collective
The trio launched Hundred For Hospitality in April and raised over $15,000 for the hospitality industry. They are now raising money to help provide hot meals to the city of Austin by purchasing them from local restaurants. You can donate here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/austin-winter-storm-relief
Austin Pets Alive!
APA! is accepting donated items like animal crates, blankets, dog houses, dog beds, tarps, towels and space heaters. The shelter is also accepting donations to purchase necessary items and voluntary assistance in picking up and distributing supplies.
Caritas of Austin
Caritas of Austin’s mission is to prevent and end homelessness in Greater Austin. While the pandemic continues, most in person volunteer opportunities are on hold but you can help meet the needs of the community we serve. Your compassionate gift of food, toiletries, or household items will provide someone with the essentials they need to stay safe, well, or housed at a crucial time. Snack kits are given to individuals experiencing homelessness that come to Caritas of Austin. Winter Care kits will help individuals in homelessness keep warm this winter. Food for the pantry will help to ensure that our housing clients have access to healthy groceries as they transition out of homelessness toward stability. Household items help their recently housed clients by providing the essential items we all need in our homes.
Austin Disaster Relief
ADRN is supporting our neighbors impacted by this unprecedented winter storm by providing gift cards, emergency housing, and supplies for short- and long-term needs. You can help meet the needs of our Central Texas neighbors – donate to their General Disaster Relief Fund today at adrn.org/give
