If you’ve never experienced a gospel brunch, you are missing out. Though many gospel brunch spots have been on hold during the pandemic, the brunch is back and better than ever!
Here are the best places for gospel brunch in the Austin area.
Stubb’s BBQ
Gospel Brunch is held in their expansive backyard on the amphitheater stage. Live Gospel music and authentic Texas BBQ every Sunday. Brunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Maria’s Taco X-Press
Maria’s is one of the most popular places for what they call “Hippie Church.” The Sunday Hippie Church music jam us currently on hiatus, but they promise it will return when things have gotten a little safer. Meanwhile the patio is open for your favorite meal and a cool drink.
Gruene Hall (Gruene)
In the tradition of a New Orleans-style gospel brunch, Gruene Hall serves up an awe-inspiring gospel music coupled with a mouth-watering buffet catered by Gristmill River Restaurant & Bar. Happening on second Sundays, February through December, brunch hours are 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.
Hill Top Cafe (Fredericksburg)
If you’re willing to take a Sunday drive you should definitely head to gospel brunch at Hill Top Cafe in Fredericksburg. Their brunch concert series features Johnny Nicholas and a special guest every Sunday! Brunch starts at 11 a.m. with music from noon to 2 p.m. $10 cover charge for music room seating.
Banger’s
Though not exactly “gospel” brunch, Banger’s Sunday programming is worth a mention. Each Sunday, Boss Street Brass Band performs live on the Banger’s Stage from 11 a.m. through 3 p.m.
