He’s been compared to everyone from Kevin from “The Office” to Grandpa from “The Munsters,” but Senator Ted Cruz corollaries have recently taken a bit of a darker turn, thanks to Austinite Tim Faust. Faust, along with designer Rory Blank, has created a new t-shirt that posits that Cruz is the yet-to-be-identified Zodiac Killer who committed a series of murders in the Bay Area in the ‘60s and ‘70s.
Of course, there are quite a few glaring holes in that theory, as KUT points out in their feature story about the shirts, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the cheekiness in Faust’s creation, as well as the social media fervor that it has created. That fervor includes the group Public Policy Polling being peer pressured by Twitter users to ask Florida voters if they believe that Cruz is the Zodiac Killer.
Faust tells KUT that the t-shirt sales will be capped by March 4, so fans should move quickly to snatch them up.
Update: Shirts will be sold until approximately 8pm CST on March 3.
