Because Austin looks amazing from basically every angle and is perfectly suited to urban and outdoor adventuring and chronic nomming of really, really good food. Because, as a community, we’re fighting hard for equal pay for women and we’re committed to saving as many rescue animals as possible. Our city officials even allowed us to enjoy an illegal David Bowie memorial for a few days.

1. … And we’re pretty sure @humansofaustx will make you cry (in a good way).
“We met in front of her house two years ago. It’s weird because I almost went the opposite way that day. You know when you see a girl, and you’re just like, ‘Hold on, I really like her but I don’t know if she would even be into me’? So I just asked her a question to open up the air and such.” “What was your first question?” “‘Do you know what street this is?’ And I mean, I wasn’t exactly lost at the time, but after I had seen her for the first time, maybe I was lost.”
Inspired by Brandon Stanton’s viral “Humans of New York” photography project, @humansofaustx publishes portraits of Austinites, captioned with interesting, funny, and often incredibly poignant quotes that provide insight into subjects’ lives.
