Here’s How You Can Get Free Solar Eclipse Glasses

Austin Public Library

The Austin Public Library is giving away free solar eclipse glasses. They will be distributed to the public starting on Thursday, April 4, 2024 until supplies last at all Austin Public Library locations. Limit two per person. Once glasses are gone, they will not be replenishing quantities. However, a limited number of glasses will also be handed out at their 9 Total Eclipse Watch Parties taking place around Austin on Monday, April 8. Locations are as follows:

  • Central Library – 12 to 2 p.m.
  • Cepeda Branch – 12 to 2 p.m.
  • Menchaca Branch – 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • North Village Branch – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Old Quarry Branch – 12 to 2 p.m.
  • Pleasant Hill Branch – 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
  • Twin Oaks Branch – 12 to 2 p.m.
  • Willie Mae Kirk Branch – 12 to 2 p.m.
  • Windsor Park Branch – 12 to 2 p.m.

Warby Parker

As avid supporters of sharp vision, Warby Parker wants to make sure you have everything you need to safely witness this celestial spectacle. That’s why they’re giving away free, ISO-certified solar eclipse glasses at all stores from April 1 until the big day (while supplies last). There are four store locations in Austin.

Special Solar Eclipse Events

Eclipse Glasses will also be distributed at the following events (first come, first served):

Celebrate at the Bastrop Solar Eclipse Watch Party in Bob Bryant Park from 12 to 2 p.m. Meet your community, play games in the park, enjoy food vendors and eclipse-themed music.

Hilton Austin will host an Eclipse & Sips Rooftop Viewing Party from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Located on the rooftop pool deck, they will have themed cocktails and mocktails with complimentary viewing glasses provided. Free admission, open to the public, no reservations needed!

Solar Eclipse Storytime is taking place a Letterpress PLAY on South Congress on April 8 at 11:30 a.m. They’ll read eclipse-themed children’s books, enjoy snacks, host a special letterpress-printed eclipse-themed activity, and give away FREE solar eclipse glasses while supplies last.

Longhorns on the Forty Acres can claim burnt-orange eclipse glasses at one of 16 Sun Spots.

Mozart’s Coffee is hosting a FREE Total Eclipse Extravaganza! There will be a live band, aerialists performances, specialty drinks and snacks, Tesla Cyber trucks on display, eclipse glasses, and exclusive merchandise! 

Oak Hill Social will be hosting an eclipse themed brunch on April 6 and 7 where all customers will receive eclipse glasses.

Republic Square will host a Total Eclipse of the Park event from 1 to 2 p.m. The first 200 guests will receive free glasses.

Southwestern University is thrilled to host the Total Eclipse Viewing Party on their scenic academic mall. Join from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
