If you haven’t ever been to the The National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, it’s time to make the trip. Here’s what you need to know before you go.

The museum is open with limited, guided tours to include more tour times and self-guided visits of groups of up to 12 people. A limited number of tours will be offered Wednesday through Sunday and visits must be reserved in advance on the museum’s website. The museum is closed for sanitizing on Mondays and Tuesdays. Additionally, masks are required on site, sanitizing stations are set up throughout the museum, and hands on displays are currently off limits.

A little bit about the The National Museum of the Pacific War:

Discover the human story of World War II in the Pacific in more than 55,000 square feet of exhibit space spread over three galleries located on six acres in the heart of Fredericksburg, Texas. The National Museum of the Pacific War is the only museum in the continental U.S. solely dedicated to telling the story of WWII in the Pacific.

Heads up, this museum is fantastic and it’s also massive! We recently paid a visit and discovered it would take hours to read, watch, and take in all the items on display. However, speaking from experience, if you don’t have hours to spend (or your kids don’t have the attention span), you can still get your fill by doing things your own way – however that may be.

Here are a few pictures we snapped during the trip to give you a little peek at some of the highlights.

In addition to visiting onsite, the museum encourages the public to tune into their weekly online programming. Check out Nimitz Minitz, designed for kids ages 7-13, What Would You Do? and the latest Highlights and Insights of the Pacific WarOkinawa and the Atomic Bomb. You can also view the museum’s Virtual Memorial Day Program on their Youtube channel.
