Party for the Parks was a huge success thanks in part to Taco Mafia, Portugal. The Man, and the support of many local donors.
The annual event took place in Zilker Park at the Tito’s Stage at ACL Music Festival. Guest were treated to tacos and Mexican street corn from local taco restaurants Nixta Taqueria, Cuantos Tacos and Discada’s. Coincidentally, Austin PBS recently premiered its highly anticipated original eight-episode docuseries, Taco Mafia, that follows this new generation of taqueros. The series is streaming now, and the first episode will be broadcast on channel 18.1 on Thursday, October 12.
Following time for food, drinks, and fundraiser events like a ring toss and gift card roulette, CBS Austin’s Trevor Scott and Good Party ATX’s Sarah Wolf took the stage to usher in a live auction. Items included VIP to tickets to ACL Festival, a Love Titos package, Austin FC tickets, and many more unique experiences that brought in thousands of dollars for the Austin parks!
The evening concluded with an intimate performance by ACL Fest artists Portugal. The Man.
Tickets for the annual event may be a bit on the pricier side ($500 each) but this one-of-a-kind event is one you should try to attend in the future if possible. You won’t be disappointed. Proceeds from Party for the Parks benefit Austin’s 400 parks.
