Austin Shakespeare and the University of Austin are giving you the chance to see Shakespeare’s classic love story Romeo and Juliet for FREE! The production is happening Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from May 23 through June 9 at the Curtain Theater.

About Romeo and Juliet

Romeo (a Montague) and Juliet (a Capulet) are two star-crossed lovers — and the stars do seem to conspire against them. Their families are enmeshed in a feud, but the moment they meet the two fall in love. Secretly married and hoping to end the feud, these young loves fall prey to the tumultuous currents surrounding them by their families, their duties, and their own hearts. What will it take to end the feud?

The legendary story will be told in a new way: set in the 1930s with inspiration from the period crime drama “Peaky Blinders.” Accompanying music will be both live and recorded and include music from the mid 20th century as well as the 1930s.

Tickets are free, but reservations are necessary and can be made here.
