Austin.com Monstober: A Month of Epic Fun at Austin Public Library

Monsters, movies, manga and more! Robots, Frankenfigures, horror galore! Skeletons, stop-motion and even socks, we’ll explore! Visit various participating Austin Public Library branches to get the full Monstober experience!

Frankenfigures: Cobble together a monster of your very own with broken toys!
Stop Motion Animation: Put on your director’s cap and learn how to make your very own stop motion movies with monsters, Minecraft, real slime, and more!
Robot Uprising: It has begun! Learn more and have fun with a range of robots – Sphero, Cubelets, Ollie, and more – before they take control!
Die-oramas: Make a creeptastic pocket die-orama that’s so cute, you’ll just die!
Socktober Fest: Rock your socks off your feet and onto your hands! Create your own sock puppet and make it light up with circuitry. Take pictures in the Sock Puppet Photo Booth. Rock out with your friends on the Socktoberfest stage. We’ll bring the socks, you bring your hands!
Manga Horror Book Club Tokyo Ghoul: Read and discuss the ultimate horror manga, Tokyo Ghoul by Sui Ishida, sip coffee at the Anteiku Café, test your Tokyo Ghoul knowledge with jeopardy, make buttons and more!
Monster Mash Bash: Recommended for ages 3 and up! Join us for a ghoulish good time! Come sing and dance with Echo and the Bats, then enjoy some monstrous crafts and games. Come dressed in your costume! Echo and the Bats is Austin’s first All Youth Librarian band! You’ve seen their storytimes, now come hear some of your favorite kid’s books put to music! Familiar stories, familiar tunes, all new fun for the whole family! We use our love for books and music to blend the two into a brand new kind of show that makes reading and rocking go hand in hand
