Over the past few years, female empowerment has become a very important part of SXSW. The festival and participating companies do a great job of bringing female focused topics to light in addition to inviting inspiring women to share their stories and expertise.

Here are the best events to help you celebrate International Women’s Day

Run For International Women’s Day

March 8 | 7 a.m. | Fleet Feet Austin, 211 Walter Seaholm Dr. LR110 | RSVP
Join Team Milk, The Cut and Austin’s community of women runners for a 5K to celebrate International Women’s Day. There will be special giveaways and a post-run recovery meet-up at Fleet Feet. Runners of all levels are welcome. Remember to show up early to join the warm-up. This event is open to all, no SXSW badge required.

SHE Media Co-Lab

March 9 – 11 | 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. | 206 E 4th Street | RSVP
Enjoy an immersive experience with amazing women and their stories of women’s whole life health. Explore how technology is revolutionizing healthcare and celebrate the change makers advancing women’s health. Speakers include, Brooke Shields, Katie Couric, Liz Plank, and more! SXSW Kick-Off: Celebrate International Women’s Day with Cookies & Kendra Scott

March 8 | 10 to 11:30 a.m. | Hook ‘Em House at Antone’s, 305 East 5th Street | RSVP
The Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute creates space and resources for creatives, leaders, and founders to become a community of empowered and equipped visionaries who embrace entrepreneurial leadership from a woman’s perspective. To celebrate International Women’s Day, Tiff’s Treats (founded by Moody College of Communication alumna Tiffany Chen, B.S. ’01 and McCombs alumnus Leon Chen, B.B.A. ’01) will provide their signature warm cookies to guests and the Kendra Scott brand will surprise attendees with gifts. Tiff’s Treats founder Tiffany Chen will be in attendance.

Female Founder & Funder Wellness Day

Female Founder House & Amar is hosting a wellness day for ambitious female founders, funders and leaders who want to unleash their potential and build bold visions in healthy ways. While this event isn’t free, it is a valuable experience that you don’t need a SXSW badge for. General admission starts at $49 which is way cheaper than a SXSW badge!

The Wearhouse

March 9 & 10 | 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. | 800 Congress Avenue | RSVP
The Wearhouse is back and this year they’re talking about the art of storytelling in fashion and beauty. Their panelist lineup is full of amazing women who are in their own way changing the world. Sustainable Action For International Women’s Day

March 8 | 1 to 8 p.m. | REI, 601 North Lamar Boulevard | RSVP
Honor International Women’s Day at REI for a SXSW style celebration. The celebration will include DJ sets, panels, free food, free swag and more. They will be serving up Kin Euphorics and Heath-Ade Kombucha at their non-alcoholic bar. The event is free and open to the public!

Canada House Celebrates International Women’s Day

Are you a women in tech? This event is for you! This celebration of women in tech is organized by Google Women Techmakers Austin, Austin Women in Technology and other leading tech organization. Join them for panels, workshops, discussions and a rooftop DJ party!

Amboy Street – Women’s Health Happy Hour

March 8 | 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Elle’s Austin, 605 Blanco Street | RSVP
Amboy Street Ventures is hosting a women’s health happy hour for founders and inventors at SXSW. Amboy Street is a VC fund investing in women’s health and sexual health startups. Elle’s Austin is a boutique dedicated to modern representation of intimacy and please.

International Women’s Day Networking Dinner with Angela V. Harris

SXSW Mentor Angela V. Harris is inviting you to join her for a evening of connection and empowerment in honor of International Women’s Day. Panel Discussion on Representation and Gender Equality in the Beverage Business
