Chillin With An Eggplant Can Get You Free HomeSlice For A Year. WHAT?!

Note: Due to the risk of inclement weather on Saturday, September 24, Home Slice Pizza has postponed the 11th Annual Carnival O’ Pizza to Saturday, November 12. Home Slice and Austin Bat Cave decided it is in the best interest to reschedule.

Pizza? Good. Carnival? Good. Put them together at Austin’s famous Home Slice Pizza to benefit a charity aimed at helping children develop and explore their creative writing abilities? Great!

The Carnival O’ Pizza will celebrate the 11th anniversary of Home Slice’s opening. Fun for the whole family will abound with pizza (of course), contests, prizes, music, and entertainment. The carnival will take place at Home Slice’s South Congress location on Saturday, September 24, from noon to 7 p.m.

Come try your hand at one of several contests including pizza eating, dough throwing, pizza box folding, a dunk tank, mustache painting, and even a “tattoo baby,” whatever that means. But the main event will be the willpower-testing Hands on an Eggplant Sub (a.k.a. HOES).

In HOES, contestants place a hand on a Home Slice eggplant sub and hold it there as long as they can. Sounds simple, but get ready for mind games from your fellow competitors. Players can raise money beforehand for perks during the competition, too — perks like bathroom breaks. A little work ahead of time can really help during the competition. The winner gets free pizza for a year!

There will be traditional carnival games, too. And you’ll definitely want to buy some raffle tickets. More than 60 prizes will be given to raffle winners including the coveted right to be the only person who can make reservations at Home Slice. Plus, you can win a YETI Die Hard Pack, two Sound On Sound Festival passes, hotel stays, and more. Raffle tickets are available now for $5 at Home Slice and will be $10 at the carnival.

All proceeds from the Carnival O’ Pizza benefit Austin Bat Cave, nonprofit dedicated to helping children and teens discover and develop their creative and expository writing skills. The organization connects children with adult volunteers and never charges for any of their programs.

In addition to Home Slice Pizza, 2016 Carnival O’ Pizza sponsors include RetailMeNot, Real Ale Brewing Co. and Capital Metro. Make your way to the midway, and help some Austin kids become the writers they’re destined to be.
