Here’s How To Have The Happiest Free Fun In Austin New Year!

The City of Austin is once again hosting its annual Austin New Year celebration at Auditorium Shores. The lawn will open at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, concluding with the firework show at midnight.

The free, all-ages event will showcase live music from local artists The Bros Fresh, The Suffers, and Band of Heathens.

The Austin New Year event schedule is as follows:

  • 7 p.m. – Park grounds, food trucks and beer garden open
  • The Bros Fresh – Hailing from Baton Rouge, LA, The Bros Fresh showcase sounds that pay homage to their R&B/Soul, southern hip-hop and rock upbringing.
  • The Suffers – The Suffers are a Texas gulf coast soul band that bring elements of classic American soul and rock and roll to crowds that love to dance.
  • The Band of Heathens – The Band of Heathens are an American rock and roll band from Austin, Texas headlining the 2023 event.
  • Midnight – Public countdown to 2024 and fireworks!

Food and beverages available from the following: Amy’s Ice Creams, La Sirena Taqueria, Burro Cheese Kitchen, Peace, Love, & Burgers, Four Brothers Arepas, RedFin Seafood/Cajun, Garbo’s Lobster, Shawarma Point, and Tacobaby.

ADA-accessible, paid parking will be available at the following locations:

  • One Texas Center – enter via Haywood Avenue off Riverside Drive ($20/car)
  • Palmer Event Center – Barton Springs Road entrance ($20/car)
  • RiverSouth Garage – 425 West Riverside Drive
  • City Hall Garage – entrance on Guadalupe north of 2nd Street
  • State Garage N – 300 San Antonio Street

CapMetro Rail service will operate late on December 31 (New Year’s Eve), running until after 2 a.m. The last train will leave Downtown Station at 2:22 a.m. Bus routes will operate regular service and Night Owls will run from 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Please use the CapMetro Trip Planner to find your best transit option.
