High fashion and breast cancer support will come together once again at Art Bra® Austin on June 4 when 72 extraordinary women will don 72 pieces of wearable art to raise money for The Breast Cancer Resource Center.
Like all other forms of cancer, breast cancer is a blight on humanity that needs to be wiped out. The only way cancer will be a disease for the history books is for people to come together to fund research that will lead to a cure. But there is more immediate need when it comes to cancer — supporting those affected and their families. And that’s where The Breast Cancer Resource Center comes in.
For more than 20 years, BCRC has helped Central Texans in several critical ways: accessing screening and treatment services, adhering to treatment plans, and battling the issues that diminish patients’ quality of life. They do this free of charge no matter a person’s income, ethnicity, education, sexual orientation, or social support.
“It is such a thrill and honor to be hosting Art Bra® Austin for the fifth year,” BCRC Executive Director (and former client) Ray Anne Evans told Austin.com. “So many people who have been touched by this dreadful disease have attended the event. Together, we’ve raised an astonishing amount of money for BCRC – well over a million dollars since Art Bra began. It’s a testament to our courageous models, amazing artists, dedicated sponsors, participating restaurants, and the incredibly generous community here in Austin.”
The main event of the evening is a fashion show featuring a cast of models made up mostly of breast cancer survivors and women currently fighting the disease. And you can be there to cheer them on!
So if you, too, want to help cancer victims, you can buy your tickets online. General admission tickets are $200, and reserved seating tickets are $250. The event will be at Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Creek Rd. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for cocktails, food service, and a silent auction. The runway show and live auction will be from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
