FREE Family-friendly Valentine’s Day Events


Are you looking for some kid-friendly fun to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Here is a list of FREE things you can do in Austin to celebrate this special day with your little loves!

Valentine’s Party Family Night
Tuesday, February 9 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. |   Chick-fil-A, 12501 N. Mopac Exp., Austin
Join the fun with a “Sweetheart Sundae” Bar, game and prizes, and a Valentine craft! The Cow will be celebrating too!

Healthy Eating Kids Club with Kiely 
Wednesday, February 10 at 9:30 a.m.  |    Whole Foods, 525 N Lamar Blvd, Austin
Little ones will enjoy a reading of The Biggest Valentine Ever by Steven Kroll. FREE! 

Valentine Playtime 
Wednesday, February 10, Thursday, February 11, and Friday, February 12 from 10-11:15 a.m. |   Round Rock Public Library, 216 E Main St, Round Rock
Bring your little sweeties to Round Rock Public Library for an early literacy playtime featuring Valentine-themed activities, cookies, and a Valentine-sharing event for children to enjoy alongside their caregivers. Each child should bring 20 Valentines to give to other children at the party. Please encourage your child to sign or initial his cards–this is a great opportunity to practice writing letters. The free, come-and-go activity is best enjoyed by ages 18 months and older. Attending children must preregister online. Accompanying parents do not need to preregister. FREE!

Early Valentine’s Gift Market & International Dance Showcase  
Wednesday, February 10 from 5 p.m. to Midnight  |   Russian House, 307 E 5th St, Austin  
You will be treated to performances by diverse cultural dance groups, some accompanied by live bands, with costumes that are a show in themselves. You’ll also have the opportunity to shop with a dozen local artisans for something special for your Valentine — jewelry, clothing, natural body products, more. This is a FREE and family-friendly event celebrating cultures and exploring world markets. Parking is FREE after 6 p.m.

Free Noon Concert

Take a 30-minute lunchtime break to hear music of a bygone era for Valentine’s by Stardust FourFREE!

Youth Valentine’s Dance
Thursday, February 11 from 5:30-7 p.m.   |   Metz Recreation Center, 2407 Canterbury Street, Austin
Elementary school age children are invited to dance the afternoon away at Metz Rec Center!  They will crown Metz King and Queen, ages 9-12, and Prince and Princess, ages 4-8, for 2016. The first 50 girls will receive a flower.  All children will receive a hot dog, chips and drink.  Door prizes will be given. FREE!

Hands On History 
Saturday, February 13 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.   |   Williamson Museum, 716 S Austin Ave, Georgetown
The second Saturday of each month, the museum hosts an interactive activity where children can get up close and personal with the history of the county, learning something new and creating their own artifact. On February 13, celebrate Valentine’s Day by learning about past valentine traditions. Children will make their own vintage valentine at the Museum! FREE for children of all ages.

Love Monster and the Last Chocolate Storytime

Monster comes home from vacation and discovers a box of chocolates on his doorstep. He knows he should share it with his friends, but what if there’s none left for him after everyone has a piece? My Pfurry Valentine

Enjoy Valentine’s Day with some of the Adorable Pfurry Friends at the Pflugerville Animal Shelter. There will be face painting, crafts tables, a fun photo booth and games. Have some fun while meeting some some sweet and lovable dogs and cats. FREE for everyone!

Love is in the Air Storytime

The MLC Vday Bday Bash

Join Maggie Louise Confections in celebration of their 1st year on East 6th and Valentine’s Day! Bring your galentines, Valentines, friends, and family to enjoy chocolate sundaes and MLC’s delicious hand painted chocolate treats with bubbles and coffee for adults. Play in the Valentine’s craft workshop to create love coupons and custom cards while the chocolatiers treat your tastebuds. FREE!

La Tribu Preschool Valentine’s Play Date

Family Stories & Music in Motion- Valentine’s Day

This 45-minute Valentine-themed workshop combines a favorite story, movement, craft, music and play for parent and preschooler fun! Designed for for preschoolers (walking through age 5) and parents. Children and parents can come dressed in valentine colors or come dressed as a favorite storybook character. $15 for parent and one child.

Be My Valentine Writers Workshop/ Daddy and Me Play Date

For daddies and their little learners ages 2-5. Interactive writing lesson that will teach your child to create their very own Valentine for their mom or someone special. All supplies included. $10 per child (dads are FREE).

Kids Club Valentine Dream Catcher
