Maudie’s and The Trail Conservancy celebrated Global Running Day with the 21st Annual Maudie’s Moonlight Margarita 5k Fun Run. Held at Austin’s most popular trail, Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail, Austin.com can confirm that much fun was had!
Not only does this 5k Fun Run support bringing the community together to celebrate movement, but it also gives participants a chance to give back. It benefits the Trail Conservancy, a local non-profit that aims to protect and enhance Austin’s beloved trail that runs around Lady Bird Lake.
At the event, the crowd turned out in their run day best, prepped for a shotgun start following an introduction by FOX7 reporter Tierra Neubaum. The Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail is “such a special place and offers a natural escape where Austinites can jog, bike, and reconnect with nature,” Neubaum stated. With breathtaking views of Austin at every turn on the trail, it is such a privilege to have this available for FREE to the public.
While the run is glorious, the party really starts at the finish line! Registration to the event includes two margaritas (for those 21+) and a nacho bar to silence those post run munchies. With tequila flowing, a DJ blasting tunes, freebies and activities by even more partners, and the stunning sunset, it was a perfect Austin night supporting our local trail.
