The Austin Parks and Recreation Department has modified their pool schedules to help give Austin free safe pool access this summer. Select swimming pools will open with modified schedules, entry requirements, and reduced capacity.

Additional pool openings will depend on availability of certified lifeguards, ability to create safe socially distant lifeguard training, and ability of pool maintenance staff. Splash pads and swim lessons are currently closed or on hold pending reevaluation of safe operations.

No admission fees will be charged during modified COVID-19 operations, however pool capacities will be limited.  All patrons must be screened before entering any City of Austin Aquatic facility.

The following pools are open but require reservations:

  • Bartholomew
  • Barton Springs (opening Tuesday, June 9)
  • Deep Eddy (opening Tuesday, June 9)
  • Garrison
  • Mabel Davis
  • Northwest
  • Walnut Creek

To make reservations, click here, log in or create an account, and click on “browse tickets”.  Reservations will be available in two hour blocks. Check back regularly for time slots.

You do not need a reservation to visit Big Stacy, Rosewood, Shipe, or Govalle pools. These facilities will be cleared every two hours for cleaning.

If you’re looking for alternative swimming options, check out our post on Central Texas swimming holes – although some of these locales may have limited access as well. Contact info is included in the piece and we recommend confirming openings and hours.
