Austin Bakeries Support Mental Health Month With Depressed Cakes

During Mental Health Month in May, several Central Texas bakeries are serving Depressed Cakes. No through May 14, you can visit a Depressed Cake Shop, which is part of a nationwide effort to increase awareness and encourage mental health conversations.

Depressed Cake Shops are bakeries who create fun and delicious baked goods to engage people in positive mental health conversations. The baked goods feature some element of gray, to represent mental health struggles, and a splash of bright color to reflect hope and healing.

19 local bakeries are taking part including Hey Cupcake, La Pâtisserie, Swedish Hill, Word of Mouth Bakery, and more. For a complete list of this year’s participating Austin bakeries, click here

Depressed Cakes sales benefit NAMI Central Texas. NAMI Central Texas is the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the country’s largest organization dedicated to building better lives for millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
