This hidden landmark Austin hangout can be found half an hour from Downtown Austin in the Lake Travis area. Hippie Hollow has remained mostly unchanged in the ever-changing Austin environment. The park is perhaps best known for being the only legal clothing-optional public park in Texas.
Even though there is not a “no shirt, no shoes, no entry” policy, there are some rules to provide safety and privacy to the park visitors. This includes an age restriction (18+), respectful behavior and boundaries, and asking for permission before taking photographs.
Visitors can visit the park year round rain or shine. It is best to arrive at the park earlier in the day during holidays as the park can reach maximum capacity and will close for the remainder of that day.
Hippie Hollow is home to a few animals protected under the Federal Endangered Species Act (such as Golden-cheeked Warbler and the Black-capped Vireo). These areas will be off-limits to any visitors to make sure to continue limiting environmental changes in the habitats. Pets are strictly prohibited, with no exceptions.
There are no lifeguards on duty so make sure to swim at your own risk! Zebra mussels can be found in the area and in water. Make sure to watch where you hang out. More park rules can be found here.
The daily park fees are as follows:
- $8/person for ages 18-61
- $3/person for seniors 62+
- Free for disabled veterans
The entrance booth accepts cash only. There are other fees applied for special events and temporary concessions. Those fees can be found on the website.
