We were sad to see that over the weekend Eater Austin shared the news that El Arroyo’s Far West location shut its doors. Luckily, the downtown location of the restaurant will remain open.
From Eater:
An employee of Austin Landmarks, the company that owns the two restaurants, confirmed the Wood Hollow Drive closure, to Eater. He said the lease wasn’t renewed because of landlord conflict, and that the space needed to be renovated, but that would have required more time.
Anything that makes our attempts to get delicious tacos and Tex-Mex in our face more difficult definitely makes us sad. We figured that there was no better way to acknowledge our melancholy about the closing than to let the downtown location’s famous signs express our feelings for us.

Especially a Monday after a favorite Austin restaurant closed.
Unfortunately, this punny sign may have been a little too much foreshadowing for us to handle.
Getting through today will require lots of tortillas to wipe away our tears.
We swipe right for El Arroyo.
This is especially true today. And even Happy is probably not too overjoyed about this news.
Drowning our sorrows in tequila? Count me in.
We’ll take two, please (because margaritas shouldn’t be alone at a time like this).
Welp, the downtown location is definitely our main El Arroyo ditch, now.
Bonus: We just couldn’t pass up a Jay-Z joke after Beyonce’s bombshells yesterday. Just make sure you order a #lemonade to drink if you stop by for dinner.
