5 Of The Best Things We Saw And Did At The USGP F1 Race 2024

After 13 years, things are still going strong out at Circuit of the Americas for the F1 US Grand Prix! Whether you head to the track or just wander around town and hit the pop-ups and parties, there is so much fun to be had during race weekend.

Here Are 5 Of The Best Things We Saw And Did At The USGP F1 Race 2024

1 – The Action At The Track

For the first time in four years, a driver other than Max Verstappen took top poll in the big F1 race. Ferrari claimed the first two spots rather quickly and maintained their lead throughout the race, but it was the heated battle for second that had everyone on edge. Lando Norris and Verstappen battled for much of the last third of the race with Norris edging out Verstappen for third, before receiving a five second penalty that dropped him to fourth.

The other action at Circuit of the Americas that had funs buzzing was Friday and Saturday night’s musical performances. Eminem emerged from a coffin to play his first show in five years on Saturday, while Sting brought the magic on Friday. Sting was back on the track on Saturday to hand the top three sprint race finishers their trophies.

2 – The American Express Experience

American Express hosted an immersive activation located in the F1® Fan Zone where fans could participate in a driver evaluation, design their own F1® car livery, create a splashy driver intro video and take home a variety of race weekend essentials. We snagged a misting fan, La Roche Posay products, portable phone charger, and a poster of our custom livery design!

But my favorite item I picked up at the track was definitely the American Express race radios. The radios were free for Amex card holders. One of the most difficult things about being at the race live is that you don’t always know what’s happening elsewhere around the track. With these radios, now you can! It definitely enhanced my race day experience!

3 – More Fun For GA

The GA experience offers many things to race fans, including photo ops and free swag, friendship bracelet making stations, and, of course, a myriad of food and drink stations. This year, we discovered a super chill not crowded area to watch the race called The Ranch. To access it, you enter at the Grand Plaza and go left towards turn 12, through tunnel 2 under the track and then cross over to the left. This area was not crowded at all! There’s a big screen, comfy shady areas to sit, clean bathrooms, and views of three different areas of the track. We highly recommend saving this info for next year!

4 – The Downtown Parties

We needed something to celebrate after that Texas/ Georgia showdown. Luckily, there were some fab events going on downtown. The best part about these parties and pop-ups is that they are great ways to enjoy race weekend without heading to the track. This year’s top events were a viewing party at Jo’s Coffee, courtesy of Mercedes, Jack’s Garage featuring performances by Brothers Osborne and Shaboozey, Diplo at Mayfair, and many more. Each year we post a list of all the race weekend parties so check back in 2025 for an updated list!

5 – Celebrity Sightings

There’s never a shortage of celebrity sightings during race weekend, and this year was packed with more than usual due to the UT/ UGA game. Here’s a list of every celebrity sighting in town.
