Believe it or not, it’s been 50 years since Austin City Limits debuted on TV! To celebrate the milestone anniversary of that famed pilot episode Willie Nelson will make his highly anticipated return to ACL with a free show – and you can be there!

To commemorate Austin City Limits’ remarkable half-century run, Austinites are invited to a Texas-sized outdoor concert on October 17, 2024, at The Long Center Lawn. The date marks 50 years to the day that Willie stepped onto Austin PBS’s Studio 6A wooden stage to record the pilot episode of Austin City Limits. Fun fact: the series is now the longest-running music series in television history!
Austin originals Asleep at the Wheel will get the party started lone star-style with an opening set for the occasion.
Want to attend the free Austin City Limits’ 50th Birthday Bash? All you have to do is registre for your chance to be there! Hurry! Registration is only open Friday, September 20 through Monday, September 23.
Those selected to attend will be notified between Thursday, September 26 and Friday, September 27 and will need to opt in. Maximum of two tickets can be claimed. Tickets are non-transferable. This event is picnic style on the lawn. Chairs are not permitted.
