When “Today Show” host Hoda Kotb interviewed Drew Brees about he and his wife Brittany donating $5 Million to Louisiana Covid-19 relief, the former NOLA resident got a little choked up. And she’s not alone! Yours truly shed more than one tear after hearing that the NFL quarterback and Austin native is once again showing up for his adopted city.

During the interview, Hotb referenced this tweet from Houston TV station KHOU.

Brees reacted like any good Texas boy would. “That’s pretty cool,” the Super Bowl Champion said, “I am a Texas boy. I do still have my Texas roots from Austin.”

The goal of the donation is to prepare and deliver 10,000 meals per day throughout Louisiana during the COVID-19 outbreak. The meals will feed children and families, as well as seniors.

In his Instagram message regarding the donation, Brees finished the post by stating, “Let’s all do our part, maintain hope, and get through this together.”

Wise words from a good man.
