- Talk Like a Pirate for Free Doughnuts – Friday, September 19. In honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is rewarding customers who talk like a pirate with one FREE original glazed doughnut. If you visit a Krispy Kreme store dressed like a pirate on Friday, you will receive one FREE dozen original glazed doughnuts! - Frozen Sing-Along (Pflugerville) – Friday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m. Join in the fun with a sing-along version of Frozen! Costumes are welcome. There will be a face painter from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Bring your cameras to take photos with Queen Elsa until the movie starts. The movie will start at 7:30 p.m. Bring blankets or folding chairs. Small coolers will be allowed, but no alcohol please. FREE admission and FREE parking (at the Rec Center and to the south in the Immanuel Lutheran Church parking lot). - What’s the Story Steve? – Saturday, September 20 at 10 a.m. Steve Scott, Austin’s only improvising poodle, has finally begun kindergarten and he’s super excited. This improvised, interactive show invites the audience to guide the show through suggestions and even by joining the actors on stage! Be sure to arrive early as theater capacity is limited. - Photo Opps at Rocket Fizz – Saturday, September 20, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Last week’s grand opening was such a hit, the new soda pop and candy shop is bringing back the fun this weekend! Enjoy balloon animals from 11-2 and face painting from 1-4. Anna from Frozen will visit the store from 11-2 and Elsa will be there from 1-4. - World African Music and Arts Festival – Saturday, September 20, from noon – 6 p.m. Cowry Cultural Foundation brings you African music and arts in their first World African Music and Arts Festival. Line-up includes: U4U Designs Fashion Show (12:00- 1:00), the band Zoumountchi (1:00-2:00), the band F Easy Americana (2:00 – 3:00), the band Bamako Airlines (3:00-4:00), DJ Happy Larry playing afro-pop (4:00-5:00), and the band The Shrine (5:00-6:00). Featuring delicious food from Wasota African Cuisine, African clothes for sale, and more. FREE! Bring your non-perishables to donate. - Bat Fest (Round Rock) – Saturday, September 20, from noon – 2 p.m. Bats are a key part of Central Texas Wildlife, but what do you know about these mysterious creatures? Come out to the Brushy Creek Community Center Pavilion and Bat Deck for the third annual Bat Fest! Bring the whole family to celebrate our neighborhood bats while enjoying music, bat games, bat crafts, snacks and learn a little about bat life on a tour of the bat cave! Admission is FREE, but guests are asked to bring a canned food item to donate. If it rains on Saturday, some activities may be canceled. Check the website for weather updates. - Book Release Party and Signing for Little Owl’s Day – Saturday, September 20 at 3 p.m. Head over to BookPeople to help author and Austinite Divya Srinivasan celebrate the release of Little Owl’s Day, her latest from Viking Children’s. - Movie in Tarrytown Park: The Lego Movie – Saturday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m. Bring a blanket and a picnic dinner, or plan to purchase food from the P. - Austin Museum Day – Sunday, September 21. The Austin Museum Partnership is proud to host the 17th annual Austin Museum Day, a FREE, community-wide rediscovery of Austin museums. On Sunday, take the entire family out to enjoy local exhibits and activities at more than 35 participating institutions. Special activities planned include a living history tour of downtown Austin, hands-on fun at the Thinkery, weaving on a loom at the Williamson Museum, playing outdoor games at the French Legation, and eating tacos shot from a taco cannon at the O. - Renaissance Day in the Park – Sunday, September 21, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Come get a taste of medieval times thanks to collaboration between Wells Branch and the local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism. The society is an international association of people who re-enact the Middle Ages as they will for Wells Branch with chivalric and rapier demonstrations along with individual guilds including clothiers, fiber artisans, leatherworkers, dancers, scribes, brewers, metal workers, glass engravers, enamelers, herbalists, and others. Many of the ancient arts will be on display in the baseball field at Katherine Fleischer Park. The event is FREE to the public.
