On the third Wednesday of September, the State of Texas celebrates Hector P. Garcia Day to celebrate the life and legacy of this physician, veteran, founder of the G.I. Forum and a civil rights hero. To learn about this legendary Texan, join Cecilia Garcia-Akers for a talk on her recent biography about the life of her father Hector P. Garcia. High Noon Talks highlight interesting and often untold topics through this casual lunch-time lecture.

Join the Bullock Museum for a screening and conversation about the documentary film Also Starring Austin. Also Starring Austin weaves together scenes from nearly 50 years of locally shot films, with commentary from some of Austin’s well-known producers, directors and industry leaders, to examine a community’s history through the cinema lens. Little Texans: Suit Up

From gloves to hats to shoes, try on different clothes and gear that workers need to do their jobs safely. Drop-in for this monthly hands-on program incorporating movement, play and tactile learning into engaging experiences where younger children (ages 2-5) can discover something new alongside their caregivers. Program is FREE for members or with exhibit admission. This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
