Looks like retail stores are already clearing their shelves of Fall decorations and it hasn’t really even cooled down here in Texas. So while we wait for the weather to catch up, we’re giving you the dirt on four cozy Texas towns you have to visit this Fall.

Here’s Exploring Amanda’s recs for four perfect Texas towns to visit this Fall!
Round Top
Located about an hour and a half from both Austin and Houston. Round Top is known for its charming town square and wonderful small businesses. In the Fall, Roundtop, a town with a population of 90, welcomes hundreds of thousands of people during its Fall Antiques Week Show. The fields that are normally empty on the side of the road become booming markets full of treasures and one-of-a-kind finds! Each tent is filled with hidden gems from new vendors like Highnoon Market, which offers genuine leather handbags and hats. Bader Ranch offers vintage treasures just waiting for you to find them, as well as a bar, cafe, and live music. It’s definitely a can’t miss experience!
Wimberley
Amanda’s favorite time of year to visit Wimberly is in the fall. Walk around the square with a warm apple cider in your hand and shop/ eat your way through the local businesses and restaurants! On the first Saturday of the month (through December), you will find the square transformed with pop up vendors, kids activities, BBQ, and music. Visit booth 151 and 152 to see Dolly and get some of her Pumpkin Spice potpourri and candles. Come hungry and early for the best eats and parking. The market is open from 7 to 3 p.m. If you want to make your trip to Wimberley a true getaway, we suggest the Spoon Mountain glamping experience. It’s the ultimate spot for a cozy fall getaway!
Brownwood
Only two and a half hours from both Austin and Dallas, this former sleepy Texas town is the perfect spot for a fall getaway. Brownwood is full of emerging life and new businesses, transforming old historic buildings into craft cocktail lounges and fun bookstores. Visit Spirit of Texas winery (Bonus: it’s dog friendly!) for fantastic wine, music, and even an “ I love wine so much” mural! Once you’re done there, head to the Runaway Cafe where you can eat in an old train car. Thirsty? Hit up Stones Grove for an eclectic cocktail surrounded by a rock and roll chic vibe. Brownwood even has a mural tour scavenger hunt that you can do with the entire family. Do not overlook the charm and possibilities of this town!
Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg is always a great Austin getaway, but have you been during the fall? More specifically, have you been during their annual Oktoberfest? If not, let’s change that – especially because this year is their 40th annual celebration! October 1 through 3 they will be hosting their three-day celebration of German heritage accompanied, of course, with all the beer and sausages your heart desires. There are activities for the entire family including things like a yodeling content, stein hoisting, and polka! Tickets are on sale now at http://oktoberfestinfbg.com/.
