Broadway in Austin is starting the year strong with Tina: The Tina Turner Musical! Featuring music from throughout Turner’s career, the show depicts her life from her humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her transformation into a rock ‘n roll superstar.
If you’ve seen What’s Love Got To Do With It, you may think you know her whole story. That is simply not true. This telling of her story touches on even more aspects of her life and is not to be missed. The cast is phenomenal, the music is sensational, and the production overall is outstanding. Two actresses share the lead role. On opening night, the roles was played by Ari Groover who steps into Turner’s shoes with a powerful presence and a magical voice. The youngest version of Turner is portrayed by two actresses as well. Symphony King played the role at the show we saw and, wow, we can’t wait to see what else this pint-sized powerhouse does. She’s not even 12-years-old and already belting out vocals to compete with veteran stage actors.
Please note, this show is recommend for ages 14+. The production includes scenes depicting domestic violence, racist language, loud music, strobe lighting, haze, and gun shots.
