If you haven’t been to the Zilker Hillside Theatre to see this summer’s production of “Shrek The Musical,” where have you been? This free outdoor production closes it’s six-week run on August 13, so you only have a few performances left before this Austin summer tradition closes up shop for the year.
Thursday through Sunday performances start around 8:15 each evening. Once the show kicks off, you’re transported into a fairy tale world full of fun for the whole family. Everyone in the family from your three-year-old nephew to your great aunt Agnes will be enthralled in entertainment. The show ends around 10:50, so you might end up carrying the little ones back to the car.
Come early to snag the best patch of hillside grass. Bring a few blankets and your favorite snacks. Then, relax and take in the show.
There’s no fun like free fun, but if you want to support the annual summer musical, you certainly can do that. You can even get rewarded based on the size of your donation. But even if donating to Zilker Theatre Productions isn’t in your budget right now, don’t let that deter you from going to the musical.
This is the 58th annual production of a summer musical in Zilker Park. Producers anticipate more than 40,000 people will see this year’s show. The annual summer musical just might become your new family tradition!
