Northeast Metropolitan Park, located just west of the SH 130 toll road in Pflugerville, is home to multiple playgrounds, sports fields, tennis courts, and the largest BMX/skatepark in Texas. There is plenty for families to explore, but if you have little tikes, you may be most interested in the new water play area.
At the farthest point from the Pecan Street entrance, all the way at the rear of the 349-acre park, you will find this play area nestled behind the skatepark. More sprayground than splash pad (think sprinkler fun), this is a nice spot for kids to cool off without getting drenched. If your little ones are not fond of crowded splash pads with dumping water buckets, they will enjoy their time at this low key play area.
The pad offers three water features: the rainbow tunnel, the arching row of sprinklers pictured above, and the water jets pictured below. The jets take turns spraying, so kids have to chase the water to keep wet.
This section of Northeast Metropolitan Park is comparable to the water play area and sand pit at Champion Park in Cedar Park, minus the long walking distance from the parking lot.
If quiet and remote sounds blissful, this is your park. If you’re looking for a bit more action, check out Pflugerville’s Falcon Pointe Splash Park.
