Spring is in the air and school is out! For a week that is. If you are still working that week then you’ll need something fun to find for your kiddos to do. Whether your kids are into music and theater, or sports and games, we’ve got you covered with our Spring Break camps and classes in Austin for 2020.

Thinkery Spring Break Camp
March 16 through 20 | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Thinkery, 1830 Simond Avenue
Thinkery Camp programs provide a creative, safe, and challenging environment for campers to learn and grow—and have a whole lot of fun while they’re doing it! Kids from pre-K through fifth grade can engage in hands-on activities that include science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.

Robot Mania: Spring Break at the Science Mill
March 16 through 20 | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Science Mill, 101 South Lady Bird Lane
Race, battle, and code robots at The Science Mill! Pop-up robot stations will be set up all over the museum with activities like an obstacle course, building your own robot, and more. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with activity hours from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free for ages 2 and under, $9.50 for ages 3 to 18, and $11 for adults.

Austin School of Film Spring Break Camps
March 16 through 20| 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Motion Media Arts Center, 2200 Tillery Street
If you have a kiddo in the household that know they want to be in film when they grow up, then this is the camp for them! Choose between two camps: filmmaking or animation. All media making gear needed for their short films will be provided, students are encourage to bring their own props or costumes. See below for the two camps!

Camps:

  • Filmmaking: campers will be guided through filmmaking & media maker exercises, mini workshops, and storytelling techniques to collaborate, connect, and create. 
  • Animation: campers will be guided through animation & media maker exercises, mini workshops, and storytelling techniques to collaborate, connect, and create. Students will also be shown a wide range of animation short films while learning the skills behind the craft. 

Kids Spring Break Art Camp! Van Gogh Week
March 16 through 20 | 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Painting with a Twist, 6705 West Highway 290
Campers will explore Master Artist Vincent Van Gogh all week through paintings and other related art activities. An art show will be held on Friday at 12:00 PM displaying all the campers works of art! This art camp is designed for kids ages 6 to 12 years old. Art supplies, painting shirt, drinks, and snacks are all provided.

Fantastic Magic Camp
March 16 through 20 | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Journey IFC, 7500 Woodrow Avenue
Join Journey Imperfect Faith Community as they host their week long magic camp! The curriculum will include magic, puppets, and juggling. Magic performances will also occur throughout the week, hosted by top quality staff. Drop off is between 7 a.m. and 8:59 a.m. Register online, camp is designed for children ages 5 to 12.

Creative Action Spring Break Camp
March 16 through 20 | 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. | Creative Action, 1023 Springdale Road
Creative Action offers a fun, engaging, and exciting arts-based Spring Break camp for ages 5 to 11. During Creative by Creative Action Camp, campers will put their creativity to work in a variety of arts-based experiences. Workshops include interactive storytelling, songwriting, improvisational comedy, and producing short videos, as well as 2D art projects like poster design, button making, and album covers. Families are invited to the festival showcase on Friday afternoon! Register now!

Spring Break at the Bullock
March 16 through 20 | 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | The Bullock Texas States History Museum, 1800 Congress Avenue
This week long camp allows kids to drop-in anytime during the scheduled time. All programs are free for members or with exhibit admission.

Daily classes include:

  • Fashionable (Monday, March 16): Channel your inner designer and use fashion plates to create bold and fashionable looks.
  • Accessorize (Tuesday, March 17): Take inspiration from the Fashion Forward exhibit and design an iconic Texas fashion accessory.
  • Stylish Art (Wednesday, March 18): Make stylish art with Smudge Studios
  • Artful Play (Thursday, March 19): Get creative and have fun with Figment Creative Labs.
  • Stylish Beats (Friday, March 20): Sing and dance along to some stylish beats with Groundwork Music Project. Join in the musical fun and pick up a ukulele and learn to play.

West Austin Youth Association Spring Break Camps
March 16 through 20 | Multiple times | WAYA Gym, 1314 Exposition Boulevard
West Austin Youth Association is a great way to teach kids to be good sports and instill the values of integrity and sportsmanship through competition and interaction. They abide by the philosophy of “honoring the game” and provide high-quality experience to every athlete. Choose from different camps like volleyball or soccer, or freestyle sport to get a little bit of everything! Class age ranges from 3 to 16 years old!

All-Star Sports Spring Break Camp
March 16 through 20 | Multiple times | SoccerZone South, 9501 Manchaca Road
Your kids are sure to find a sport they love at this all-star sports camp. SoccerZone South provides a fun environment as campers can play sports and engage with other athletes at their large astroturf complex. Both full-day and half-day registrations are available. Camp is designed for kids ages 4 to 12 years old.

Bliss Kids Yoga Spring Break Camp
March 16 through 20 | 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Whole Life Learning Center, 10801 Old San Antonio Road
Give your kiddo the opportunity to engage in fun and unique hands on learning that is geared towards promoting peaceful social interactions! This camp is designed for children 3 to 8 years old. Nappers are welcome! Please pack a lunch and a change of clothes. Register here!

Spring Break Horseback Riding Camp
March 16 through 20 | 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Bee Cave Riding Center, 15740 Hamilton Pool Road
Sign up for one class or all week at this horseback riding camp from Bee Cave Riding Center. This camp is composed of English riding lessons combined with a fine arts program. Experienced camp counselors will lead campers through group lessons each day. Beginners are welcome! Camp is designed for kids ages 6 to 16 years old.

Austin Bouldering Project Spring Break Camp 20202
March 16 through 20 | 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Austin Bouldering Project, 979 Springdale Road
Designed for kids ages 5 to 12, this exciting camp at ABP gives kiddos the opportunity to immerse themselves in a full week of bouldering fun! Whether your kid is an experienced climber or brand new, they will have a blast with the ABP instructors. Kids will learn all about climbing while connecting with new friends and gaining confidence along the way. The camp also includes crafts, yoga, games, and more! Please send your kids with two snacks, a lunch, and a water bottle. Comfortable clothing is required, climbing shoes are provided. Register online: ages 5 to 7 and ages 8 to 12.

Spring Break Tennis Training Camp
March 16 through 20 | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Austin Tennis Academy, 6800 Spanish Oaks Club Boulevard
This Spring Break, your child can take advantage of the Austin Tennis Academy’s tennis camps to progress at a rapid rate. These camps are designed to provide the greatest development of your child’s physical, mental, technical, and tactical performance levels. Sign up for a full week or a single day! Classes:

  • QuickStart Camp (9 to 10:30 a.m.): QuickStart tennis gives kids the opportunity to rally a ball over the net and learn to play points as fast as possible. Designed for ages 5 to 8 years old.
  • Morning Camp (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.): Players will improve their game by learning fundamental skills, practicing game situations, and improving overall movement.
  • Afternoon “Tournament Tough” Camp (1 to 4 p.m.): Tournament players will improve their game by using competitive game situations, technical training and point play, as well as movement and flexibility training. This camp is limited to Champ and Superchamp-level.

YMCA Spring Break Camp
March 16 through 20 | 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. | Multiple YMCA locations
No matter where you live in Austin, you’re bound to be close to a YMCA location hosting a spring break camp. The theme this year is Spectacular Spring! With experienced camp counselors, kids will will experience nature with activities like wind powered mazes, butterfly squish art, and a cheese powder pollination experiment.

Spring Break Drop-In & Discover
March 16 through 20 | From 10 to 11 a.m. | Wildflower Center, 4801 La Crosse Avenue
Looking for a fun and creative way to keep young minds and hands engaged during spring break? Stop by the Wildflower Center as they feature a different native spring plant each day! Each class is complete with fun facts, activities, and opportunities to explore the Family Garden. All ages are welcome! Registration is not required, this program is free with regular garden admission. Admission is free for members.

Music

Showstopper! Musical Theater Camp
March 16 through 20 | From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Austin Scottish Rite Theater, 207 West 18th Street
Designed for singers, ages 6 to 10, who want to perform and sing in the spotlight! Students arrive knowing a couple songs they’d like to sing onstage. The rest of the week is spent exploring performance topics, like choreography. At the end of the week, campers present a showcase performance on the historic Austin Scottish Rite Theater stage.

Miscellaneous

Spring Break Free LEGO Fun Tuesday
Tuesday, March 17 | From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Austin Jewish Community Center, 7300 Hart Lane
This FREE events allows your kids to have fun while building with LEGOS! Activities include navigating your robot through a maze, creating a mini LEGO movie, creating unique spin art, and more! This class is designed for kids ages 4 and older.

Spilled Milk Social Club Spring Break Camp
March 16 through 20 | 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. | Spilled Milk Social Club, 3310 Red River Street
Spilled Milk Social Club is hosting their spring break camp for kids ages 4 to 12 years old! During this week long camp, each day will feature a fun and exciting field trip paired with classroom time. Spring Break Cooking Camp
March 16 through 20 | 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Pinny and Trowel, 10415 Old Manchaca Road
Get your little one interested in food and cooking with this spring break cooking camp. Campers will learn about spring and all the food that is is season. Each day will focus on a recipe and tradition from a different country. Additionally, kids will learn kitchen skills and food safety throughout the week. This camp is designed for children ages 5 to 14 and is hosted by Tazmin Cochron, who is extremely passionate about bringing back the lost art of families and friends cooking together.
