BBQ
The best barbecue in the country comes from Texas (we may be a bit biased here), so it’s no surprise that BBQ tops the list of most Instagrammed dishes in Austin. From big names like Franklin, Salt Lick, and Black’s to those newer to the game like Stiles Switch, Micklethwait Craft Meats, and La Barbecue, there’s no shortage of great spots to grab BBQ in Austin, nor to find drool worthy IG pics.
Tacos
You can find a taco everywhere, on every street in the ATX. That goes for your Instagram feed as well. While Taco Tuesday may be popular across the country, every day is taco day in Austin. With so many amazing options, it can be difficult to find time to eat anything else! Favorite IG worthy spots include Torchy’s, Veracruz, Peached Tortilla, Suerte, and so so so many more.
Dim Sum
Sure, there aren’t as many dim sum options as there are tacos and barbecue, but that doesn’t mean Austin doesn’t have its share of tasty dumplings, buns, and egg custard tarts. In addition to offering the Chinese weekend meal any day of the week, Shanghai Chinese Restaurant declares Thursdays ladies night with $2 wines. If that doesn’t give IGers reason to stop in and snap a pic, surely this post does.
Acai, Poke and Other Bowls
When Monday rolls around after a weekend of debauchery, you’ll find many an Austinite on the hunt for a healthy meal. And sometimes a salad just isn’t enough. Scan through your Instagram feed and you’re likely to find another trendy protein packed option. More and more acai, poke and grain based bowl options are popping up in Austin and it seems that ATXers are loving it!
Ramen
Another popular bowl option is the broth, noodle, veggie, meat combo known as ramen. When the weather turns cold, ramen pics in your IG feed are sure to heat up. Ramen Tastu-ya tops the list as the most Instragrammed spot in Austin. But there are plenty of other options as well like Yoshi Ramen, Daruma Ramen, Michi Ramen, and Komé.
Avocado Toast
Growing in popularity both IRL and online, avocado toast is making it onto the menu of more and more Austin restaurants and food trucks. It’s also making it into more and more Instagram feeds. No matter what kind of cheese you like, served on thick or thin toast, featuring smooth or crushed up avocado, you have to admit, it’s a pretty darn good looking and tasty treat.
Sweets
Speaking of treats, when a picture of a donut, ice cream, or one of the many other offerings from Austin area sweets shops pops up in our IG feed, it’s hard to resist the sugar craving. Especially when that pic featured one of the items from The Baked Bear. Made from scratch daily, these desserts are a favorite with Austin Instagrammers. Check out the IG pics and we’re sure you’ll totally understand why.
