Minor Mishap End-of-Summer Flotilla

Minor Mishap Marching Band is taking to the water to bid summer sweet adieu on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 7 p.m.

Join in the flotilla fun! You can bring your own boat/kayak/paddle-board, or you can rent one. It’s rad to be in a boat, obviously, but you can participate from the shore at Red Bud Isle too.

Renting a Boat

Rowing Dock is renting boats for this event as a benefit for the Texas River School, a children’s river safety education organization. You can reserve your boat here. If you are renting a boat from Rowing Dock, you can be part of the group paddle that will start launching at 6:30, and will depart from the Rowing Dock at 7.

Using Your Own Boat

If you are bringing your own boat or paddle board, please put in and take out at the public ramp/drainage ditch on the north side of the Lake, near Austin High. If you are paddling on your own, please meet at Red Bud Isle at 7:30!

  • Please avoid using the ramp at Red Bud – Minor Mishap will be launching the band’s boats there, after they are constructed into huge trimarans.
  • Please avoid using Rowing Dock facilities to launch your own boat – It will be too congested with the group paddle. Minor Mishap is also using the public dock near Rowing Dock for the band’s boats, so it will be extremely congested. You will have a much better experience launching at the ramp near Austin High!

Watching from the shore

The Minor Mishap Flotilla will converge at Red Bud Isle at 7:30. There will be a 30-minute performance in the water, near the magical giant cypress trees at the eastern tip of Red Bud. This will allow people to watch the show from the land! Parking at Red Bud is super limited; consider biking to the event. (Please note Red Bud Isle closes at 10 p.m., and they lock the parking lot).

A few more notes

  • Please no drinking.
  • Please no swimming. There is no swimming allowed in Lady Bird Lake, or at Red Bud Isle. The city considers tubes, floats etc. to be swimming, so they are not allowed.
  • Be safe in the boat and wear a lifejacket.
  • This event will happen around sunset, you may want to bring a light!
