Help Austin Parks Foundation Show Our Parks Some Love

Balcones District Park

Balcones District Park

In Austin, we love our green space. Spoiled with more than 300 parks and trails–and seemingly endless days of sunshine to enjoy them–we have it pretty good living in this city!

Austin Parks Foundation loves our parks too, and it is their mission to connect Austinites to resources and partnerships to develop and improve our parks. Want to pitch in and give them a hand? There are several fun ways to volunteer with Austin Parks Foundation in 2016!

National Trails Day

June 4, 2016

Austin Parks Foundation, Hill Country Conservancy, and Texas Conservation Corps are excited to once again host Austin’s National Trails Day on June 4, 2016!

The American Hiking Society’s national trail awareness day is a popular day of service and learning here in Austin. Every year, on the first Saturday in June, over 800 volunteers work to improve 40+ project sites, take guided hikes at some of Austin’s favorite and hidden trails, and discover some of Austin’s most beautiful places! If you know of a park or trail that needs a little TLC, register your project starting in April, or sign up to volunteer starting in May.

All volunteers will receive a National Trails Day t-shirt, designed and printed by Austin’s own Industry Print Shop, and enjoy a volunteer appreciation party afterward. Volunteer registration will open in May and close on June 3, 2016.

National Public Lands Day

September 24, 2016

National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands including parks, trails, and green spaces. Austin’s annual NPLD event is hosted by Austin Parks Foundation and Texas Conservation Corps. More than 1,000 volunteers participated at 54 sites across Austin and Travis County in 2015, making it the largest and most successful NPLD to date.

From tree care, to building and maintaining trails, to park clean-ups and more – no matter how you choose to lend a hand for NPLD, you’ll be making a difference. Project registration opens in July. Volunteer registration will open in August and close on September 23, 2016.
