We all know just how awkward it is that Austin is the capital of Texas AND the 11th most populated city in the U.S. AND the fastest growing metropolitan area in the country, yet we still have no professional level sports teams. That soon may change, however, if this survey request from Major League Soccer (MLS) is any indication.
MLS recently hired Barrett Sports Group, LLC to evaluate the potential demand and anticipated support for a Central Texas team. The California-based management consulting firm is distributing a survey asking residents about “potential team and stadium projects to help MLS understand local opinions and potential interest in an MLS team in Austin,” reports KXAN.
The City of Austin has temporarily banned public gatherings. Please stay home. The Austin.com calendar is only for live digital events at this time.
Texas already has two MLS teams — in Houston and Dallas, naturally. For those interested in making Austin the third home to an MLS team, you can participate in the survey here.
