KXAN – As Central Texas braces for more flooding, Gov. Greg Abbott is taking action to help communities save lives – by ordering the immediate release of $6 million in disaster prevention funding.

“The state will be able to better monitor water levels and achieve timely flood alerts if funding is made available to install a technological network of stream gauges that will greatly enhance existing flood notification systems,”Abbott wrote in a letter to Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar on Thursday.
