Free Summer Bowling Programs

This summer, there aren’t quite as many free bowling programs to choose from as Austin’s Showplace Lanes has closed. The nearest centers offering free bowling for kids are located in San Marcos and Georgetown.

Online registration is now open for the Kids Bowl Free program, in which Sunset Bowling Lanes in San Marcos is a participant. 

Create a free account and your child will have the opportunity to bowl for free all summer long (2 games per day, per child), from May 30 – August 22, 2014.

Each bowling center has their own age restrictions and shoe policy located on the right hand side of the page. At Sunset Bowling Lanes, shoe rental is required.

Mel’s Lone Star Lanes in Georgetown is no longer affiliated with the Kids Bowl Free program, but they have started their own year-round free program for kids 13 and under called Mel’s Kid’s Club.


As a Mel’s Kid’s Club member, kids receive the following just for signing up:

  • 2 Free Bowling Games Every Day of Summer, from May 1st – September 30th
  • Exclusive Event Access
  • Special Birthday Party Perks

Also, while not a summer program exactly, Westgate Lanes in Austin is offering a coupon for a free game on their website. You will need to print out one coupon per person and it does not include shoe rental.  This coupon expires October 1, 2014.

Be on the lookout for bowling coupons that may come home from school with the kids!  Some AISD students recently received a Summer Bowling Pass, good for 1 game per day at Dart Bowl, Highland Lanes and Westgate Lanes. (Thanks for the reminder, Ashley!)
