First-Friday Film Series: Art from the Streets – Friday, August 7 at 7:00 p.m. Art From the Streets is an all-volunteer program established in 1991 to provide a safe and nurturing environment for homeless people to produce art. They accomplish this mission by sponsoring twice weekly art “classes” and an annual show to sell their work. This film (2006, 73 min.) tells this story by tracking five of the artists over the course of a year. After the film, Layton Blaylock, the film’s director, will answer questions from the audience. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the film starts at 7 pm.
