Free Deutschen Pfest Parade in Pflugerville

DPfest40 The 40th annual Deutschen Pfest parade is happening Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 10 AM (with an 8 AM check-in time and judging at 9 AM) — and it’s FREE! The parade features marching bands, classic cars, and community organizations and dignitaries. There is also a children’s parade beginning at 10:45, which follows a shorter route down Main Street.

Pfest

The children’s parade starts at the corner of Main Street and Railroad Ave. Children dress up in costumes and decorate their bikes/wagons — and they can even win prizes! Ribbons are given with awards for best German theme, most decorative wagon/bicycle, most creative entry, and youngest participant.

At 10:30 AM, children’s parade participants will report to the parking lot at Wordyisms on Railroad Ave. for judging. Then, the children will lead off the parade of floats by proceeding down the short strip of Main Street. Parents are welcome to join their child or wait at the end of the street.

Bike

The main Deutschen Pfest Parade begins at the corner of Pfennig Ln. and Railroad Ave. and travels down to Main Street (view the full route map here). For more information about the main parade or the children’s parade, email [email protected].

MarchingBand

Following the parade, head over to nearby Pfluger Park for the 40th annual Deutschen Pfest, Pflugerville’s most popular pfestival! Pfluger Park will host the Pfest Friday, May 15, through Sunday, May 17. Along with Saturday’s parade, Deutschen Pfest features children’s games and activities (including a free children’s area located just outside the festival gates, with puppet shows and free bounce houses), shopping booths, a Pfun Run on Sunday 5/17, and much more. (Note that this year’s carnival has been canceled due to rain.)

Entry fees to Deutschen Pfest are just $5 on Friday and Sunday, and $7 on Saturday (children 6 and under get in free). Check out the full live music and entertainment schedule for specific information on bands (Dale Watson headlines on Saturday!), the parade, Sunday’s Pfun Run, and all the weekend happenings. You can also download the free Pfone App to have Deutschen Pfest information at your fingertips.
